Simon & Schuster imprint Gallery 13 has acquired the rights to the graphic novels based on Stephen King’s The Dark Tower novels and will be re-releasing the series in 11 volumes. The first five books, called Beginnings, will come to stores every two weeks starting on August 14. The hardcovers each have an MSRP of $24.99. The next six graphic novels in the run, called the The Gunslinger books, will be out in spring 2019.

The graphic novels collect work originally published by Marvel, which was overseen by King, plotted by Robin Furth, written by Peter David, and illustrated by Jae Lee and Richard Isanove. Beginnings includes The Gunslinger Born (Book #1), The Long Road Home (Book #2), Treachery (Book #3), The Fall of Gilead (Book #4), and The Battle of Jericho Hill (Book #5). The Gunslinger books include The Journey Begins (Book #1), The Little Sisters of Eluria (Book #2), The Battle of Tull (Book #3), The Way Station (Book #4), The Man in Black (Book #5), and Last Shots (Book #6).

Simon & Schuster has been the publishing home for King’s prose novels for the last two decades. The Gallery 13 imprint launched in spring 2017, with King and Bernie Wrightson’s adaptation of Creepshow among its first releases (see “Simon & Schuster Unveils New Graphic Novel Imprint”).
