Marvel is launching a solo series for Riri Williams, Ironheart, on November 7.
The series will be written by Dr. Eve L. Ewing and drawn by Kevin Libranda. Issue #1 will feature cover art by Amy Reeder, with variant covers by Humberto Ramos, Stephanie Hans, Luciano Vecchio, and Jen Bartel. Riri Williams was created by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato Jr. during Civil War II in the wake of Tony Stark’s absence (see "Black Female Iron Man Suits Up"). Now that Tony has returned, does she want to return to M.I.T. and finish her education? Would she prefer to return to Chicago and protect her hometown? This new series deals with Williams character, as she decides who she wants to be outside the shadow of Ironman.
Dr. Eve Louise Ewing is a Chicago-based writer, journalist and visual artists from Chicago. She is a sociologist of education who researches school closures. She earned her doctorate from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education in 2016.
