New Canadian game publisher Maple Games will release Dragon Boats of the Four Seas, a family friendly Euro game designed by Spiel des Jadres winner Michael Schacht. The game is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.

Schacht won the Spiel des Jadres (Game of the Year) in 2007 for Zooloretto, and also designed Coloretto and Web of Power. Dragon Boats of the Four Seas is set in Zhong-Guo, the Middle Kingdom, is an island surrounded by the four Dragon Seas. The four noble houses must bring prosperity to the kingdom by building farms, trading, and making offerings to the dragon gods for safe passage across their seas. Players use area control/area influence, set collection, and auction/bidding mechanics to gain status for their house.

The game is for 2 – 4 players, ages 12 and up, and plays in 45 minutes.

The game has raised nearly $20,000 from more than 300 backers, well past its $10,000 goal. The Kickstarter will continue through October 21. Backer fulfillment is planned for July 2019 with trade release to follow. MSRP was not announced.

Maple Games was co-founded by Daryl Andrews and Peter Wocken. Andrews is the co-designer of Sagrada, The Walled City: Londonderry & Borderlands and Speakeasy Blues. Wocken is a graphics designer and artist with credits on Dead of Winter: A Crossroads Game, Sagrada, and Dinosaur Island.
