Z-Man Games will release a stand-alone version on the classic tile-laying game Carcassonne set in the African Savanna, Carcassonne: Safari, in Q4.

This version of Carcassonne, designed by series creator Klaus-Jurgen Wrede, offers new locations to explore and a new game twist. Like Carcassonne, players have the option of placing meeple on features they discover and score points, but in Safari, the goal is to spot the largest variety of animals, because whoever amasses the most animal sightings, scores the most points and wins.

The box includes 72 land tiles, 50 animal tiles, 1 start tile, 1 scoreboard, 5 scoring markers, 30 meeples, 5 elephants, 2 safari trucks, and a rulebook.

The game is for 2 -5 players ages 7 years and up, and plays in 35 minutes. MSRP is $39.99.
