Kevin Hart is in final negotiations to star in the long-gestating Monopoly movie for Lionsgate and Hasbro, according to Deadline.  Tim Story is in final negotiations to direct.  The pair worked together on the two hit Ride Along movies.  Story has some geek credentials; he directed the two Fantastic 4 movies for Fox.  Hart’s HartBeat Producitons, Story’s The Story Company, and Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures will produce.

The storyline for this latest version has not been revealed; an earlier version under development by Lionsgate was about a boy from Baltic Avenue who goes on a quest to make his fortune, using both Chance and Community (see "Lionsgate Takes a Shot at the ‘Monopoly’ Movie").

The Monopoly movie has been in development since 2008 when it was part of the deal between Hasbro and Universal that produced Battleship.  In 2011 it was being developed by Ridley Scott, in 2012 with Emmet-Furla, and in 2015 with Lionsgate and writer and possible director Andrew Niccol.  This is the closest it’s ever been to production (a star and a director attached), so it seems likely that this time it will get made.
