Adam Newman, formerly senior Director of Brand Management for Tamashii Nations at Bandai America, has joined Bluefin Distribution as Chief Marketing Officer, the company announced. This is a second high level Bandai executive to join Bluefin in connection with the company’s acquisition by Bandai Namco Collectibles LLC, a newly formed company, last fall. Koji Iwata, a Bandai Senior Vice President, was previously brought in as Chief Operating Officer. John Parker, formerly of Diamond Comic Distributors and Tokyopop, had served as President until early last year. Steve Fujimura continues as CEO of Bluefin.
Bluefin retains U.S. rights to some non-Bandai merchandise lines: in addition to Bandai lines, Bluefin is the exclusive channel distributor for Storm Collectibles, the official North Americna consumer products and retail development partner for Studio Ghibli, and the exclusive distributor for Mr. Hobby/GSI, SEN-TI-NEL, and Flame Toys.
