Christopher Priest (Deadpool, Captain America, Black Panther, Deathstroke) is writing a new Vampirella series for Dynamite, kicking off with the #0 issue on Free Comic Book Day and launching in July with #1 on the 50th anniversary of the release of the first Vampirella magazine (also the first day of San Diego Comic-Con), the company announced. Ergun Gunduz is providing the art, and the issue will feature a wraparound cover by Frank Cho and covers by Alex Ross, Joe Jusko, Guillem March, Adam Hughes, and Sanjulian, along with an Erica Fett cosplay cover.
The story will be set in the real world, Priest said. "What if an alien from another planet were stranded here?" he asked, pointing out that if that alien looked and acted like Vampirella she’d be seen as a vampire. "That would seem to be an allegory for how we treat each other; for racism, xenophobia, homophobia and religious persecution."
