Frequent collaborators Alex Ross and Jim Kreuger will return to the future Marvel universe of Earth X as co-writers for a six-issue prequel which launches January 8, Marvel announced.  Artist Well-Bee (Adventures in Empire, The No Ones) joins the writers for this mini-series, with Ross handling cover artwork.  Additional variant covers will be produced by Well-Bee and Steve Ditko with additional variant cover artists TBD.

The original limited series, which debuted in 1999 (based on a popular series of popular sketches by Ross originally commissioned by Wizard Magazine), envisions a grim, tumultuous future for the Marvel heroes.  Featuring world-weary or radically transformed versions of mainstays like Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man and Thor among others.  The original 12-issue maxi-series spawned two sequels, Universe X, and Paradise X.

This return to the Earth X Universe will focus on a young man named David and his desperate bid to escape to New York.  As the last human being on an Earth, where everyone has been radically transformed by the Terrigen Mist unleashed by the Inhuman King Black Bolt, Captain America and the remaining heroes of this universe stand as his only hope.
