Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books & Media will launch Etch, a new graphic novel imprint in its Books for Young Readers group, the company announced Thursday.  The new line will launch in September 2020, with seven titles announced through February 2021.

The new imprint will aggregate graphic novel titles from HMH’s existing lines; new titles will be acquired by editors from HMH Books for Young Readers, Clarion, and Versify.

The launch list includes:

Dinomighty!, written by Greg Trine with art by Aaron Blecha, stars four dinosaur heroes.  (September 2020)

Sherlock Bones and the Natural History Mystery, by Renee Treml, is a mystery starring a bird skeleton detective and his stuffed parrot sidekick.  (September 2020)

Ichiro, a new edition of the Eisner-nominated comic by Ryan Inzana, starring a Japanese-American boy in a world of Japanese gods and mythological creatures (see "2013 Eisner Nominations").  (September 2020)

Carmen Sandiego: The Chasing Paper Caper is the third in the series, tied to the Netflix series (see "’Carmen Sandiego Trailer’").

Timo the Adventurer, written by Jonathan Garnier with art by Yohan Sacre, is a fantasy in which Timo rescues an enchanted beast.  (October 2020)

Oh My Gods!, written by Stephanie Cooke and Insha Fitzpatrick with art by Juliana Moon) is the first in a new middle grade series about a girl who moves to Mount Olympus and discovers gods as classmates.  (January 2021)

Power Up, written by Sam Nisson with art by Darnell Johnson, is a middle grade adventure set between middle school hallways and epic robot video game battles.

Existing titles from other imprints, including two Carmen Sandiego volumes, Kayla Miller’s Click and Camp, Newberry winner adaptations The Giver and The Crossover, and Don Brown nonfiction titles Fever Year and The Unwanted, will be moved to Etch as they are reprinted.
