Titan Comics will release a new edition of Breathtaker, the 1990 Vertigo graphic novel by Mark Wheatley and Marc Hempel, alongside a new comic, their first collaboration in 20 years, and a major museum exhibit tied to the work.
The new edition of Breathtaker, with an introduction by Neil Gaiman, presents a remastered version of the original collection of the four-issue Prestige format miniseries. The story combines horror, romance, crime, and superhero elements with a succubus whose lovers are her willing victims, her run from the government that has branded her a criminal, and a superhero who’s chasing her for the NSA.
Wheatley and Hempel have also created new material, a stand-alone comic titled Breathtaker: Make Way for the Man, which was referred to in the original Breathtaker story. The comic will be solicited alongside the graphic novel in the March Diamond Previews.
Meanwhile, the Norman Rockwelll Museum has created the Breathtaker Exhibition, which will appear at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. The exhibition will include over 90 pieces of art showing the creation of the original comics and then remastered for the new edition. The exhibition will be on display Augsut 24, 2020 through October 30, 2020.
