Marvel has furloughed half its editorial staff, according to The Guardian, quoting "a source familiar with the situation." Marvel will continue to pay health insurance for furloughed staff, according to the report.
The move comes after Marvel “paused” work on about one-third of its planned May and June comics output (see "Marvel ‘Pausing’ Work on One-Third of May and June Titles").
Disney has been cutting staff across many of its units, with over 100,000 employees furloughed last week, according to the Los Angeles Times. The largest number of those employees came from its parks division, which appears to be preparing for an extended shutdown.
