In Dragon Ball Z: The Board Game Saga, up to four players each choose one of 10 hero characters from the animated series and work together to thwart the evil plans of the villains, including the likes of Raditz, Frieza, Cell, and Maijin Buu. Over the course of the game, the heroes can learn new fighting techniques and increase their power level, hoping to save the universe in the end.
Dragon Ball Z: The Board Game Saga is designed so players can battle their way through a single saga, or follow the entire series through a number of battles. It comes with 280 cards, 13 game boards, 98 tokens, 7 dragon balls, 39 standees with 7 bases, 8 wooden cubes, and 14 combat dice. The game is intended for 1 to 4 players, ages 14 and up, and takes about 2 hours to play. MSRP is $49.99.
The game was designed by Lynnvander Studios (Albion’s Legacy, Evil Dead 2: The Board Game). It was produced as part of IDW’s on-going license with Toei Animation that began in 2017 (see “IDW to Produce ‘Dragon Ball Z’ Games”).
In January, IDW will launch the sci-fi worker placement game Galaxy Hunters (see “IDW Games Announces ‘Galaxy Hunters’ for Trade”).
