Wizards of the Coast expanded its suspension of in-store play by adding Canada to the list of countries affected. The entire season of Kaldheim had already been declared a "remote season" for U.S., LATAM, and European stores back in November (see "Wizards of the Coast Extends 'Magic: The Gathering' In-Store Play Suspension Till January"). Remote play events will still be accessible via Wizards Event Reporter and Eventlink.

WotC also upped the maximum tournament entry fee for both Magic Arena and Magic Online to $25. This will allow retailers and other organizers to create tournaments with larger revenues and payouts; and in general, help retailers maintain the community of players among their customers while the pandemic rages.

WotC officially set January 13 as the next update on in-store play.
