Seven Seas Entertainment announced last week that it has acquired the license to the manga I’m in Love with the Villainess, a yuri (girls love) fantasy series that's getting a lot of buzz in yuri circles; Seven Seas already publishes the light novels, and fans have been hoping they would pick up the manga as well.  The main characters is an ordinary woman, Rei, who wakes up inside her favorite otome (dating) video game.  The goal in this game is to develop a romantic relationship with one of the male characters, but Rei is more interested in the game’s antagonist, Claire.  The game doesn’t allow that pairing, but now that she’s actually living in that world, Rei is determined to do just that, despite not being sure how Claire will react.  Seven Seas will publish the first volume in July, with an MSRP of $12.99.

The publisher is making a new license announcement every day in February, and so far the manga announcements are leaning heavily toward fantasy and in particular the isekai genre (in which the protagonist is reincarnated in, or transported to, another world).  Other manga titles announced so far include:

Monster Guild: The Dark Lord’s (No-Good) Comeback!:  This comedy-action series stars a Dark Lord frustrated by a hero who keeps coming back to life after every defeat.  Eventually the Dark Lord lets himself be defeated, but then comes back to life with a rag-tag crew of fantasy creatures (a slime, an orc, an ifrit, an elf) who will fight alongside him as he tries to stage a comeback.  The first volume is scheduled for September with an MSRP of $12.99.

Slow Life in Another World (I Wish):  Hard-working salaryman Itsuki wants a break from the rat race, so when he is transported to another world and the goddess in charge gives him a choice, he picks a skill that won’t result in him working too hard.  Of course this backfires, and he doesn’t get to enjoy his leisure after all. The first volume will go on sale in August with an MSRP of $12.99.

Other February announcements include the light novel series Disciple of the Lich: Or How I Was Cursed by the Gods and Dropped into the Abyss!, to launch in September under its Airship light novel imprint (MSRP: $13.99) and the mature-readers manga series Sundome!! Milky Way, which will be published under its Ghost Ship imprint starting in August (MSRP: $14.99).

Earlier, Seven Seas announced it had licensed Sarazanmai Anthology, a collection of short comics by different creators based on the anime of the same name, which streams on Crunchyroll.  The anthology will be published in June as a single large-trim volume with an MSRP of $13.99. Seven Seas is already publishing another Sarazanmai spinoff, Sarazanmai: Reo and Mabu (see “Seven Seas Announces New Manga Licenses”).
