AfterShock Comics revealed Seismic Press, a new YA imprint, along with its debut title Rainbow Bridge for release in August.

As an imprint, Seismic Press will focus on producing content for readers that fall in the 12 to 18 year old age range. Seismic was created to address the need for GNs among educators and booksellers in an ever-growing market. Editor-in-Chief Mike Marts commented on the new imprint:

“AfterShock's mission has always been to push readers out of their comfort zones and defy expectations – providing top creators and up-and-coming storytellers with an opportunity to tell the stories they’ve always wanted to tell in the ways they’ve always wanted to tell them,” said Marts. "With Seismic Press, our mission is to apply the same high-quality approach to content, talent selection and presentation but extend it to a much wider audience and demographic.”

Their first title Rainbow Bridge, from creators Steve Orlando and Steve Foxe with illustrations provided by Valentina Brancati, is about a boy named Andy who loses his best friend, a dog named Rocket. On the day before he starts high school, Andy visits Rocket’s grave and unexpectedly summons the Rainbow Bridge, a gateway to the pet afterlife. There, Andy and Rocket go on one more adventure to find Rocket's lost littermate.

The Seismic Press imprint will offer up more original content in 2022 as well as repackaging certain AfterShock series that have strong YA appeal like The Lollipop Kids and Oberon (see "Live Free, Read Dangerously").
