Dan Abnett (Guardians of the Galaxy, Aquaman) pens a new jumping-on point for Dejah Thoris and John Carter fans where the Martian power couple will face a new threat from space gods and a planet-wide war. Barsoom is seemingly on the brink of an ice age, and there is conflict between the planet's tribes and nations. John Carter was missing, but Dejah Thoris and her allies have located him. Together they face the Longborn, space gods that are intent on reclaiming their creations on the red planet.

"Now that John Carter has returned, is he still the legendary hero they all respect?," said Abnett about the new book. "And are he and his beloved Dejah still working to the same ends? It's a tale of swords, sorcery, space gods and true love, an interplanetary romance in the true sense of both those words."

Artwork for this book was done by Alessandro Miracolo who recently worked on Red Sonja: Dark Powers (see "Preview: 'Vampirella: The Dark Powers' #4"). This first issue will have covers by Lucio Parrillo, Joseph Michael Linsner, Miracolo, and a cosplay cover featuring Rachel Hollon aka FacesByRachie.
