Heritage Auctions announced that the Promise Collection had totaled $7 million in auction sales off of its 181-comic debut at their June 17 - 19 Comics & Comic Art Signature Auction in Dallas, Texas. The Promise Collection totals over 5000 high-grade Golden Age comics, over two-thirds of which are expected to be the highest grades available for those issues (see "'Promise' Collection Books Head to the Heritage Auction Block").

The two books that realized the top prices from this collection were a Detective Comics No. 140 graded CGC 9.6 (first appearance of The Riddler) and Phantom Lady #17 graded CGC 9.6, which went for $456,000 a piece. Other notable prices for individual books were a CGC 8.5 Mask Comics #1, which went for $102,000, and a CGC 9.6 Startling Comics #19 that went for $132,000.

"We're just blown away," said Heritage Auctions Vice President Lon Allen in response to the auction results. "Every single book (of the collection) was over the top - and deservedly so."

The big story of this auction was the collective price realized for Matt Baker's entire run on Phantom Lady from this collection. Baker redesigned the Phantom Lady in 1947 when Fox Comics picked up the character from Iger Studio, after she was dropped as a feature in Police Comics. He started his work on the Fox Comics' version of Phantom Lady with issue #13, which was the premiere book in the series that took over the numbering of Wotalife when it was canceled. His run lasted onto the very last issue, Phantom Lady #23. The Promise Collection featured all 11 issues of Baker's run in incredibly high-grades, which brought in a total of over $750,000 on their own.
