Andrews McMeel Publishing (AMP) revealed that they have partnered with Will Shortz and Robert Fuhrer of Nextoy LLC. to create a new games imprint, Will Shortz Games.

Will Shortz is a legend among crossword puzzle enthusiasts. He is the crossword and puzzle editor for the New York Times, the founder and director of the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, and a puzzle master for NPR's "Weekend Edition Sunday." Now, AMP is launching a new games imprint bearing his name this November.

“He is unquestionably the premier puzzle and word master, and as the burgeoning popularity of board games, brain games, and puzzles continues to grow, the timing is ideal," said said Kirsty Melville, publisher and president of AMP.  "With Will Shortz Games, AMP expands our presence in the games category, and I can’t imagine a better partner than Will Shortz in doing so.”

The first game for under this new imprint will by Will Shortz Games: Down and Across. This game is a letter tile game where players look to complete two-word crosswords that fit a specific set of clues. It was developed by Gameblend Studios and will likely appeal to fans of Bananagrams. The game is for one to four players, ages 10 and up, and will be available on November 9. The MSRP for this game will be $24.99.

Andrews McMeel Publishing also released Neverland: A Fantasy Roleplaying Game Setting, designed by Andrew Kolb, last October (see "Explore Peter Pan's Enchanted Isle").
