Graphix will publish Kat Fajardo’s middle-grade graphic novel Miss Quinces in both English and Spanish on April 5, the first time the publisher has released a novel in both languages on the same day.

The main character in Fajardo’s story, a girl named Sue, had plans to go to sleepaway camp with her friends over summer vacation but instead ends up going to Honduras with her family to visit relatives. Once they are there, her mother announces Sue will be having a surprise quincanera, the traditional 15th birthday party that marks a girl’s transition to womanhood. Sue is not on board with this plan, but she has to figure out how to deal with her family’s demands while keeping her own sanity.

Graphix will release the 256-page graphic novel, rated for ages 8-12, as a paperback with an MSRP of $12.99 and a hardcover with an MSRP of $24.99, and Scholastic en espanol will release the Spanish-language edition, Srta. Quinces, as a paperback with an MSRP of $12.99.
