Dark Horse Comics has announced a new original graphic novel in its Berger Books imprint: Shifting Earth, by writer Cecil Castellucci and artist Flavia Biondi. Set in the near future, the “cli-fi” story follows Dr. Maeve Lindstrom, a botanist who is transported by a freak particle storm to an Edenic parallel earth where nature trumps science.  Maeve quickly learns that it’s not as idyllic as it seems, though, and catastrophic change is right around the corner. With Earth's climate change fresh in her memory,  Maeve teams up with an astronomer, Zuzi, to save the endangered planet.  The book will be released in comic shops on June 8 and in bookstores on June 22, with an MSRP of $19.99.

Castellucci is the writer of Shade the Changing Girl, Soupy Leaves Home, and The Plain Janes. Biondi is the artist for another Berger book, Ruby Falls, written by Ann Nocenti. Berger Books is curated by Vertigo founding editor Karen Berger (see “Karen Berger Gets Line at Dark Horse”).
