IDW Publishing has announced its second middle-grade Godzilla title: Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors – All Hail the King, by writer Erik Burnham, artist Dan Schoening, and colorist Luis Antonio Delgado, will launch in October. The five-issue limited series is a followup to last year’s Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors, which was collected as the graphic novel Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors: Rise Up. The first issue of that series had sales of 19,632 copies through Diamond (see “Diamond Top 2000 Comics – Full Year 2021”), and the graphic novel was number 23 on Diamond’s list for March (see “Diamond Top 400 Graphic Novels – March 2022”).

Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors – All Hail the King! is set a year after the last series, and with no more Godzilla sightings, the traffic on main character Cedric’s vlog is dwindling. The new story presents new challenges, including cyberbullying, and like the first series, has a theme of environmental destruction. The first issue will be released in October with three covers: Cover A by Schoening, cover B by Andrea Bell, and a retailer incentive cover by John Yurcaba.
