Humanoids has announced a new original graphic novel, Cyn, by Eisner-nominated writer and artist Ibrahim Moustafa, colorist Brad Simpson, and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. The story is a sci-fi thriller with a touch of a Western vibe, following a cybernetically enhanced government informer who tries to leave her past behind after being found unconscious and being nursed back to health by kindly strangers. Although she finds herself in a very different world from the one she fled, Cyn still has a lot of darkness in her, and so do some of the others. Humanoids will publish the 176-page hardcover under its Life Drawn imprint in March 2024.
Moustafa and Simpson previously teamed up on RetroActive, a time-travel graphic novel, and Count, a sci-fi take on The Count of Monte Cristo, both published by Humanoids. He was nominated for Eisner Awards in 2014, for High Crimes (with Christopher Sebela) and in 2017, for the solo webcomic Jaeger. He was a contributor to Marvel’s 2022 Halloween special Crypt of Shadows #1 (see “Marvel, Dark Horse Line Up One-Shots for Halloween”).
