The Werewolf at Dusk: And Other Stories, publishing March 12, 2024 from Liveright, an imprint of W.W. Norton, contains three linked stories on what the publisher describes as “the anguish of aging” and “the dread of things internal.” The 192-page hardcover by David Small is priced at $25.

These three stories are the title work, adapted from a short piece by Lincoln Michel about how a werewolf deals with old age and irrelevance; the semi-autobiographical “A Walk in the Old City,” in which a psychoanalyst sees dream-like irrational visions; and an adaptation of Jean Ferry’s “The Tiger in Vogue” (also translated as “The Society Tiger”), set in 1930s Berlin.

David Small’s best-known book is Stitches, a harrowing graphic memoir (see “Review: ‘Stitches’”) and New York Times bestseller. His previous book was Home After Dark (see “Review: ‘Home After Dark’”).
