“The Joker Year One” will be told in Batman #142-144, shipping weekly in February 2024. Written by Chip Zdarsky, the story has art by Giuseppe Camuncoli, Stefano Nesi, and Andrea Sorrentino with colors by Alejandro Sánchez andDave Stewart. The covers are by artist Giuseppe Camuncoli, inker Stefano Nesi and colorist Tomeu Morey. Batman #142 arrives in stores on February 6, 2024, with #143 publishing on February 13 and #144 on February 20.

The storyline promises to revisit the origin of the Joker, including the chemical accident that transformed the leader of the Red Hood Gang, the gang reforming, and a visit from “a mysterious figure from Batman’s past.”

Each issue also has a story, with art by Andrea Sorrentino, colored by Dave Stewart, that flashes forward to Batman’s distant future to show the Joker’s affect on the Caped Crusader. Following this storyline will be “Dark Prisons” in Batman #145-148, where Batman faces off against Amanda Waller.
