An incredibly rare Magic: The Gathering - Arabian Nights sealed booster box hammered at $212,500 at the February 16 - 17, 2024 Heritage Trading Card Games Signature Auction.

Sealed Arabian Nights booster boxes are true rarities in the Magic: The Gathering collector world. This first Magic: The Gathering expansion set, based on The Book of One Thousand and One Nights, was released on December 17, 1993. It featured 78 cards, 27 commons and 51 uncommons of different rarities (U2, U3, U4, etc), and had an extremely limited print run with essentially two different runs of the set being made, one with light mana symbols and one with dark mana symbols. The total print run for this set, announced by WotC, was at around 5 million cards and it has one of the lowest print runs of any Magic: The Gathering set.

Ending at $212,500, the sealed Arabian Nights box also outperformed a Pokemon TCG 1E Base Set Booster Box in the same auction. The Pokemon TCG 1E Base Set Booster Box sold for $200,000, which is below half of the realized sale value of a similar box that hammered for $408,000 back in January 2021 (see "Record-Setting Sales Number").
