Kodansha Comics has revealed the cover for the first volume of Ashita no Joe: Fighting for Tomorrow, which they will publish in English for the first time beginning in December 2024 (see “Kodansha Licenses Classic Boxing Manga”).
Ashita no Joe (literally, "Tomorrow's Joe"), by Asao Takamori and Tetsuya Chiba, is the story of a young man with no prospects who learns to fight in prison and later becomes a professional boxer. The series was originally published from 1968 to 1973 and was initially collected into 20 volumes. Kodansha will publish the series as eight 500-page hardcover volumes with new covers designed by Matt Akuginow. The first volume will have an MSRP of $59.95, and the series will also be available digitally.
