LEGO and Wizards of the Coast announced the release of LEGO Ideas Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon's Tale, the first D&D-branded LEGO set.

The 3,745-piece set was designed by Lucas Bolt (aka "BoltBuilds") and co-developed by a team at WotC. This set features a detailed tavern with a removable roof, which allows builders to access the upper level of the structure. It also comes with LEGO minifigures, which include an Orc Rogue, a Gnome Fighter, an Elf Wizard, and a Dwarf Cleric. The set contains few brick-built monsters as well: a beholder, an owlbear and a displacer beast. Builders can also create a giant Cinderhowl red dragon from this kit.  that builders can wrap around the tower.

For years now, Dungeon Masters have used makeshift LEGO structures as either terrain or to add story elements to game sessions. Dan Rawson, WotC's Global Play Lead on D&D and RPGs discussed a little about LEGO's long-standing indirect relationship with D&D that has now become an official licensing partnership:

“LEGO bricks and Dungeons & Dragons have been used by fans to generate stories and build adventures for so long that bringing these two creative brands together during our 50th Anniversary felt like a no-brainer,” said Rawson. “With the amazing LEGO Ideas set designed by Lucas Bolt, the adventure package available on D&D Beyond, and the LEGO Minifigure series coming this fall, fans will have so many new sparks of imagination available to enjoy creating fantasy stories together with friends and family.”

LEGO Ideas Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon's Tale set will be available for LEGO Insiders beginning April 1, 2024 via LEGO Stores and on the LEGO website. Then, it will be available for all from April 4, 2024 with an MSRP of $359.99.
