Dynamite Entertainment will release a trading card set tied to the 40th anniversary of Hasbro's Transformers franchise, the companies announced. The release is one part of a massive program from the toy giant that includes over 40 anniversary figures and an extensive list of licensed products from a wide range of licensees, all carrying the special anniversary logo.
The Dynamite trading card release will focus on the original Generation 1 era of the franchise, featuring characters from the Autobots and Decepticons factions such as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream, Ironhide, and Soundwave. Art has been assembled from Hasbro’s design archives and an international array of top artists.
The hobby product will come in foil packs of 10 cards, with 24 packs per display. The set includes 110 base cards, 55 rainbow holofoil cards, 10 animation art cel cards, 5 ultra-rare enhanced cards, and metal box topper cards.
"Select retailers" will offer a package with three packs and a bonus foil card, or a package with the complete base set. Retailers including Walmart and Sam’s club will have exclusive packaging and presentation.
