The emphasis is on “cute” in the latest announcement of an upcoming game in the “inexpensive games with cute furry animals” genre: Super Kawaii Pets. The upcoming card game from Arcane Wonders features art in the kawaii style, from the Japanese genre of cuteness. The game design is by William Cavaglieri.
In Super Kawaii Pets, Animal cards are placed Sad side up on the table, and the goal is to flip Animals to their Happy side, either by playing them or by playing an Animal’s cost in Help cards. Flipping enough Animal cards to their Happy side meets the requirement of a Location to which Happy Animals can be assigned. The game ends when a player has 10 Happy Animal and Location cards in front of them. Victory Points from Happy Animals and Location cards (and deductions from Sad Animals) are then tallied to determine the winner.
The box includes 27 Help Cards (9 each of Food, Love, and Care), 42 Animal Cards, 15 Location Cards, and 1 First Player Card.
The game is for 1-4 players ages 8 and up and plays in 20 minutes. MSRP is $14.99.
It’s been less than a week since we covered two other inexpensive games with cute furry animals (see “Inexpensive Games with Cute Furry Animals”).
