To celebrate the series’ fifth anniversary, BOOM! Studios has announced Something Is Killing the Children #0 will be released September 25, 2024.
The series was co-created by writer James Tynion IV and artist Werther Dell’Edera and won (in a tie) the 2022 Eisner for Best Continuing Series (see "Eisner Awards 2022"). The zero issue, by Tynion and Dell’Edera, promises a "critical chapter" from the past of lead character and monster-killer Erica Slaughter. When the series began, she arrived in Archer’s Peak; with issue #0, readers will see the mission she undertook before that point.
The issue's main cover is by Dell’Edera, with a variant cover, shown here, by Sean Gordon Murphy. Other variants will be done by Jenny Frison (Grim), Dan Mora (Once & Future), Jeff Dekal (Dune: House Atreides), Jae Lee (The Dark Tower), and more. This is the first background zero issue from any BOOM! original series. Something Is Killing the Children has been optioned for a Netflix series (see "Netflix Orders ‘Something Is Killing the Children’").
