GlobalComix is launching GC Vertical Originals, its new program to adapt panel-and-page comics to the webtoon format, including its latest publisher addition, Dark Horse Comics.  The new program is a large-scale movement into the format, which GlobalComix CEO and Co-Founder Chris Carter called “the best way to read comics on a phone,” in discussing this initiative in June (see “GlobalComix Trying to Bring a Webtoon Experience”).

The new program is launching with vertical scroll versions of Stranger Things from Dark Horse, Marjorie Finnegan: Temporal Criminal and Casual Fling from AWA, The Darkness from Top Cow / Image, Humanoids’ Urban Legendz, TKO’s The Pull, The Banks, and Lonesome Days, Savage Nights, Vault Comics’ Heavy, and Bad Egg’s GODSLAP. New webtoon adaptations of American-style comics will debut each week, with publishers in addition to those in the launch group.

The addition of Dark Horse titles to the GlobalComix platform includes over 700 of the publisher’s greatest issues, from 150 titles, which will be available in vertical scroll format for the first time. "Webcomics and mobile-friendly platforms are the next frontier, bringing comics to fans wherever they are, whenever they choose," Dark Horse CEO and Founder Mike Richardson said of the format.
