Dark Horse Comics will release the first five complete volumes of its original Avatar: The Last Airbender graphic novels as a boxed set. Subtitled The Promise, The Search, The Rift, Smoke and Shadow, and North and South, all five are written by Gene Luen Yang with art by the Japanese duo Gurihiru. The five graphic novels are 232-page paperbacks with a 6” x 9” trim size. The boxed set will go on sale on March 11, 2025, in bookstores and on March 12, 2025 in comic shops, with an MSRP of $124.95.
Dark Horse began publishing original Avatar: The Last Airbender stories in 2012 (see “Yang Does Last Airbender”), releasing each story as three individual volumes before combining them into hardcover library editions and later releasing them as trade paperbacks. The first volume topped the BookScan chart on its release (see “‘Avatar’ Tops Bookstore GN Sales in February”) and the most recent one was in the ComicHub Top 20 in April 2024 (see “Top 20 Graphic Novels – August 2024”).
