Rollacrit's newest Heroes of Barcadia expansion, Heroes for Hire, has passed $700,000 in backing on Kickstarter.
Heroes of Barcadia is tabletop party game where players race through a dungeon to battle various monsters in an effort to defeat the Grand Drink Guardian and reclaim the town's liquid gold. The character pawns are represented in the game by Character Cups, and their life total is represented by the amount of beverage left in the glass. The base game is for two to six players, ages 21 and up, and plays in 30 to 90 minutes.
In the new expansion, players once again battle the Grand Drink Guardian who now wields The Die of Barcane Chaos. The new expansion adds four Character Cups to the game: Biggswigg, Sip-Jin, Ontaprielle, and Dram. Each Character Cup comes as its own expansion pack, which includes Power Ups and Loot cards that are exclusive to that hero. The actual game rules and board for the expansion, Dies of Barcane Chaos, is offered as a separate pack.
This crowdfunding campaign offers a U.S. retailer pledge tier. For a $45 deposit, a brick-and-mortar can order units by the case at a wholesale discount (there is a minimum order level). As of the publication of this article, the Kickstarter sits at $733,971 with 5,380 backers (about $136 per backer).
