Berger Books, former Vertigo editor Karen Berger’s Dark Horse imprint, will publish an original graphic novel by writer G. Willow Wilson and artist M.K. Perker, who collaborated on Air and Cairo (both originally published by Vertigo). The new book, The Stoneshore Register, follows a journalist who moves to a mysterious Pacific Northwest fishing town filled with strange phenomena and unearths its strange history. The 128-page paperback will be released in bookstores on July 22, 2025, and comic shops on July 23, 2025, with an MSRP of $24.99.

“I've always wanted to tell a very big story in a very quiet book,” Wilson said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “The Pacific Northwest is the perfect setting for a story like this –- foggy, mysterious, full of old myths and new urban legends and little towns with a single main road.”

“First of all, this is our reunion,” Perker added. “That's very important to me. This emotional state I'm in is transcribed into the art. This book is about real people with a foggy future who live in a town which has a foggy past. I love making characters act. I’m not interested in explosions, big fight scenes nor car chases. But I love making drawn characters convey a story with their body language and facial expressions like real actors do.”

Wilson, who is best known as the writer of Ms. Marvel, was nominated for the 2024 Eisner Award for Best Writer (see “Eisner Nominees Announced”). Perker is one of the contributors to The Essentials, a multi-creator graphic novel to be published in February 2025 by The Lab Press (see “Exclusive: New Publisher Signs Distribution Deal with Diamond, S&S”).
