Kodansha Comics has announced that it will speed up releases of the manga series Wind Breaker to once a month, beginning in July 2025. The current schedule is every other month, with Vol. 9 due out in February 2025, but it’s likely that Kodansha anticipates demand will increase when the second season of the anime debuts in April 2025. The shonen manga, by Satoru Nii, is set at a high school for delinquents where the students spend more time brawling than studying. When a new student with a tough-guy attitude arrives, he is surprised to learn that the students are actually fighting to protect the surrounding town, but he is determined nonetheless to battle his way to the top. Kodansha launched the series digitally in 2022 and began the print edition in 2023. The first season of the anime ran from April-June 2024 and is available on Crunchyroll.
Kodansha will also begin monthly releases of the soccer manga Blue Lock in July 2025 (see “Kodansha’s ‘Blue Lock’ Soccer Manga to Go Monthly”).
