In other Star Wars news, a new writer has been assigned to do a script for the upcoming film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and featuring Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker (see "New ‘Star Wars’ Movies"), according to The Hollywood Reporter. George Nolfi, who got the nod for this latest version, has blockbuster experience with his scripts for Ocean’s 12 and The Bourne Ultimatum. The film will take place after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, when Rey will attempt to rebuild the Jedi order after the fall of the First Order.
Marvel has released a 1-minute clip from Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, which will premiere on Disney+ on January 29. The first trailer for the new series was released last month (see "’Your Friendly…’ Trailer").
TriStar has signed Nosferatu director Robert Eggers to co-write and direct a sequel to Labyrinth, according to Variety. The 1986 original starred David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly and became a cult favorite. An earlier incarnation of the sequel was set to be directed by Scott Derrickson (see "Derrickson on ‘Labyrinth’"). Eggers is on the move after the release of Nosferatu, which is nominated for multiple Academy Awards (although no Best Picture or Achievement in Directing). He’s already set a Christmas 2026 date for Werwulf, a follow-up to Nosferatu.
