Mad Cave Studios has appointed Lunar Distribution as the exclusive distributor to the direct market for all of its imprints, including Papercutz, Maverick and Nakama Press, the company announced.
Mad Cave is urging retailers to order titles for which the final order cut-off was January 27, including Pop Kill #1 and Blade Forger #1, along with all other titles from Mad Cave imprints, from Lunar.
"Retailers are the backbone of our industry, and we are committed to providing them with the highest level of service and reliability," Mad Cave President Mark Irwin said in a statement accompanying the announcement. "Lunar Distribution shares our values and vision for the future."
"Mad Cave has consistently proven their ability to create engaging, boundary-pushing content that resonates with comic book fans worldwide," Lunar Co-Owner Christna Merkler said. "We look forward to working closely with them to bring their exceptional stories to an even wider audience."
Mad Cave is the third publisher to announce a distribution change for the direct market since Diamond Comic Distributors filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this month (see "Diamond Files"). Image Comics also made a quick change, effective with a FOC date of January 13 (see "Diamond Distribution of Image to End").
BOOM! Studios is transitioning its direct market distribution to Penguin Random House Publisher Services earlier than originally announced: PRH will take over on April 1 instead of July 1. Diamond will continue to carry BOOM! Studios titles as a PRH sub-distributor.
