Tokyopop has appointed Owais Farooqui as its new Director of Marketing and Sales, the company announced. In his new role, Farooqui will lead marketing and sales activities across publishing, ecommerce, merchandise, and anime promotion, with a special emphasis on expanding opportunities in the video game arena. He brings skills in data analysis and performance measurement to inform sales and marketing strategy.
Prior to joining Tokyopop, Farooqui spent time at Discovery Channel, King Digital, and most recently at Ultimate Endgamers League.
Farooqui will report to Publisher Marc Visnick. "His experience and leadership skills, combined with his passion for pop culture, make Owais ideally suited to this leadership role and we look forward to supporting him in his wide-ranging initiatives," Visnick said of Farooqui in a statement accompanying the announcement.
