Magnetic Press has signed an exclusive first-look partnership with French design studio Label 619, with a complete collection of the studio’s seminal release MKFZ planned as the first product under the new deal.
"Their exceptional artistry and storytelling align perfectly with our mission to create thoughtful and inventive stories with a distinct and unique visual style," Magnetic Press Founder Mike Kennedy said of the new relationship with Label 619. "We’ve been proud to bring several of their books to the English-reading audience to date, and this partnership will allow us to bring even more of their groundbreaking projects to shelves, captivating readers around the world."
MKFZ, sold in Europe as Mutafukaz, originated as an award-winning animated short created by Label 619 Founder Guillaume "Run" Renard in 2003, and grew into a five-volume, 440-page story of dystopian Los Angeles. A MKFZ feature film by Japanese production house Studio 4c was released in 2018 and was released in U.S. home video in 2019 (see "DVD Round-Up").
Titan Comics released one volume of the comics in English, under the European title, in 2015 (see "Titan Expanding Euro Line").
