Comic projects on Kickstarter were up dramatically in 2024, with increased use of retailer tiers one contributor to the growth, the company announced. Dollars raised from comic projects were up 34%, from $34.8 million in 2023 to $46.5 million in 2024. There were 3,413 comic projects, with a 77.8% success rate. That's about $17,500 per project.
The top locations for backers of comic projects were New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, and London.
The top-funded comic Kickstarter in 2024 was also the top-funded comic Kickstarter of all time: Skybound's G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, which collected the stories published in Marvel Comics' 1980s series, raised $3.37 million from 10,490 backers. That topped the top 2023 project, the Good Omens graphic novel by Colleen Doran, which raised £2.4 million (see "Comics Market in 2023").
