Wal-Mart has raised the stakes in the brewing price war in online DVD rentals by cutting its monthly subscription price for three movies out at a time to $17.36, according to Video Business.  Netflix had cut its price for the same package by $4 to $17.99 in October; Blockbuster then cut its price to $17.49.

While online DVD rentals are not a large part of the business, they do tend to appeal to heavy consumers of DVDs, a demographic that also shops at pop culture stores.
