As a result of tariffs, Hachette Boardgames USA has raised prices on most of the products in its catalog, the company announced.  The company had previously implemented small price increases on titles that were on the water when the tariffs began; the new increases, which took effect May 15, are much broader.

Some titles will be discontinued as a result of the pricing process.  "Prices are increasing as little as possible, and only on products that we feel can withstand the price increase," Hachette Boardgames USA Director T. Caires said in a blog post.  "If we feel a product cannot withstand an increase that allows us to produce more of that game, we did not increase its price and will likely be discontinuing the product in the future.

Caires went on to describe working with publishers whose games it distributes in the U.S. on the pricing issue.  "The function of our business at Hachette Boardgames USA has always been to connect partners from outside of the U.S. with a U.S. audience, while supporting and maintaining the partner's brand identity," Caires said.  "Our publishing …have been working with us tirelessly to try and find solutions that make importing to the U.S. make sense, but unfortunately, it no longer makes sense without increasing prices."

The move was made despite the temporary reduction of tariffs on imports from China from 145% to 30%, which Caires called "too short, too little, and too late," pointing to the upcoming expiration of the pause tariffs on imports from the EU as another issue.
