Genius Games announced that they will be raising prices on their lines of board games and puzzles. This price increase will be effective on July 1, 2025.
The price increases come in the wake of the company facing steadily rising costs for sourcing, shipping, and operational cost since 2022. These costs were, of course, exacerbated by the recent tariff situation (see "Erratic Tariff Policy"). As a result of these headwinds, Genius Games will be increasing its game prices anywhere between 8% and 25%, depending on the product type. As an example, their higher-priced board games seem to land in the 8% to 11% category of price increases, but some of their lower-priced educational games may have up to a 25% increase in price.
“We’ve done our best to delay this change as long as possible,” said John Coveyou, Founder and CEO of Genius Games. “This update ensures we can continue to deliver innovative, accurate science-based games with the same level of quality our community depends on.”
Their price increases on their puzzle land somewhere between 12% and 15%, again with higher-priced products experiencing more of an increase in prices. Retailers can still order their games and puzzles at the current pricing until June 30, 2025.
