ComiXology veterans and DSTLRY founders David Steinberger and Chip Mosher have announced a new digital comics service, Neon Ichiban, which will launch with comics and manga from Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, DSTLRY, Kodansha, Oni Press, and Vault Comics. The service, which is an offshoot of DSTLRY, is designed to be an all-in-one destination, with comics and graphic novels available in standard editions as well as limited-edition variants and sketch covers for collectors. Readers can access new comics on their release dates, as well as backlist titles, and can read comics online or download copies to their device (if publishers have enabled this feature). For collectors, participating publishers will offer unique digital collectibles with digital signatures and remarques, which can be resold with their provenance remaining attached. The platform will also allow users to sell previously owned digital comics and collectibles, with resales benefitting publishers and creators.

“Neon Ichiban is more than a store—it’s a platform devoted to bringing reading and collectability to a united global audience for comics and manga,” Steinberger, the CEO & Co-Founder, said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “This is the next evolution of digital comics. We’re empowering fans with access, control, and engagement—and providing creators with tools to directly connect with their audience like never before.”

"We're reimagining what's possible when you combine cutting-edge technology with a deep respect for comics, manga, and their creators," added Mosher, the CCO & Co-Founder. "Neon Ichiban bridges digital convenience and collectability, giving fans true ownership while supporting creators. This isn't just a revolution for comics—it's setting a new standard for digital content across all media.”

Steinberger was the co-founder of the digital comics service ComiXology, and Mosher led content acquisition and marketing for the platform. After ComiXology was sold to Amazon, the pair founded DSTLRY (see “Former ComiXology Execs to Mix Digital and Print with new Publisher, DSTLRY”).
