More than a decade after its original launch, Gotham Academy is back in Gotham Academy: First Year, a new six-issue prequel to the first series. Writers Becky Cloonan and Brenden Fletcher and cover artist Karl Kerschl are returning to the series; the interior artist will be Marco Ferrari. The new story takes place before events of the original series, as main character Olive Silverlocke arrives at Gotham Academy and begins to navigate campus life while still processing a traumatic event involving her mother. DC will publish the 40-page first issue on October 1, 2025, with a main cover by Kerschl and variant covers by Dustin Nguyen and Sweeney Boo.

Gotham Academy is self-contained teen adventure tale that features a mix of new and familiar characters and is accessible to new readers. DC has collected the original 18-issue series into a trade paperback (see “DC to Collect First ‘Semester’ of Gotham Academy”).
