Two years after the surprise launch of the Energon Universe (see “Skybound Brings G.I. Joe and Transformers Together”), Skybound unveiled new creative teams and new storylines for the world of Transformers, G.I. Joe, and Void Rivals at the Energon Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

G.I. Joe writer Joshua Williamson announced that the series will go to a twice-monthly schedule for three months, starting in November with G.I. Joe #13, for a new storyline, the Dreadnok War.  Tom Reilly, the original artist for the series when it debuted as part of the Energon Universe (see “Preview: ‘G.I. Joe #1’”) will return for this event and is now exclusive with Skybound.

Writer Robert Kirkman and artist Dan Mora will take over on Transformers with issue #25, and the panelists showed off some new cover art and character designs, as well as the wraparound cover that outgoing writer Daniel Warren Johnson created for Transformers #24.

Kirkman also announced a new storyline for Void Rivals, The Quintesson War, which will launch in December with issue #25; Andrei Bressan will take over as artist from Patricio Delpeche with that issue as well.
