FUNimation Entertainment has acquired exclusive North American distribution rights for select titles in Tokyopop's home video catalog including Initial D, Great Teacher Onizuka, and the Marmalade Boy anime series as well as the live action 'street racing' documentary, Street Fury. FUNimation plans to rework these titles with new packaging, new pricing and new configurations. The first product released under this agreement will be Street Fury Remixed, which is due out on June 27th.
A source told ICv2 that the 'synergistic' relationship between Tokyopop and FUNimation could well be expanded in the coming months and could include cross-marketing of anime and manga properties and more.
