Marvel announced Brian Michael Bendis has extended his exclusive relationship with the company... again (see "Bendis Renews with Marvel"). Specific terms and duration of the deal were not announced.
"There's been some speculation that I will be leaving comics because of other cool things going on in my life but I wanted to let everyone know that isn’t the case," Bendis said. "I get it, sometimes when people have something going on in other media they tend to drift away from comics. But that is the opposite of what my life's goals are."
Bendis was recently ranked #3 on The Hollywood Reporter’s most powerful comics writers in Hollywood (see "'THR' Ranks Hollywood's Most Powerful Comics Writers"), with a live-action Powers adaptation for the Playstation Network (see "'Powers' TV Series Will Debut on March 10") and Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones based on his series Alias planned for Netflix (see "Hellcat Cast for 'Jessica Jones'"). He also penned a non-fiction book on comic book writing that released last summer (see "Brian Michael Bendis Signs With Random House").
Bendis is current writer on several high profile Marvel books, including Uncanny X-Men, All-New X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy, and an upcoming Secret Wars tie-in series Ultimate End (see "Marvel Plans 'Ultimate End'"). Marvel teased Bendis’ involvement with another soon-to-be announced Secret Wars series. A new iteration of his creator-owned Powers series, with Michael Avon Oeming, launched in January.
