A release date has been set for Sony/Columbia’s long-gestating Venom feature, according to Hollywood Reporter.  The film will be released October 5, 2018.  That date was chosen as Warner Bros. moved Aquaman off that date to December 18, 2018. 

A new script has been turned in by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), after the earlier draft by Dante Harper (see “Sony’s ‘Venom’ Film Movies Ahead”).  The inestimable Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Amy Pascal are producing. 

Sony has also scheduled an animated Spider-Man feature for Q4 2018 (see “Best in Shows – Q4 2018”).
