The Sunday night debut of Star Trek: Discovery on CBS drew 9.6 million viewers. The debut took place simultaneously on broadcast channels and CBS All Access. Deadline reports that CBS anticipates more than 15 million views at the seven-day mark.

The show also contributed to the single-day record for signups on CBS’s proprietary digital streaming service according to Deadline, beating a record set by the Grammy Awards broadcast in February. The first two episodes are currently available for streaming, and subsequent episodes will be available exclusively through the platform, with new episodes available weekly after 8:30 p.m. ET on Sundays.

Each installment of Star Trek: Discovery is also followed by After Trek, a live discussion of each episode hosted by Matt Mira (The Nerdist). After Trek episodes are available to stream at 9:30 p.m. ET on Sundays.

Star Trek: Discovery debuted after several production delays (see “’Star Trek:  Discovery’ Moved Back Again”), but the first season was extended from 13 to 15 episodes despite the difficulties (see “First 'Star Trek: Discovery' Trailer”).

On October 25, IDW is launching the comic book series tie-in from writers Mike Johnson and Kristin Beyer and artist Tony Shasteen (see "'Star Trek Discovery' Comic Series in October").
